Woman Drops Tiffany Engagement Ring In Lake

By Clare Westwood

Just one month after accepting the proposal of marriage and a beautiful Tiffany engagement ring Sara Stocco's pride and joy went tumbling into a Minnesota lake in a few seconds of sheer terror. The ring slipped from her mouth, bounced off the floor of the boat and into the water.

The couple were out boating on the fourth of July and drifting about 50 feet offshore when the incident occurred. Stocco immediately sprung into action searching for the ring after she took it off in order to apply sunscreen. It fell into the 4 and foot depths of the lake and nestled into the sandy bottom.

Several of Stocco's friends also helped her search, the ring is a .89 carat diamond ring purchased from the prestigious Tiffany and co worth $7000 in total.

News of the desperate search quickly spread to people on surrounding boats and the son of a scuba diver called his dad to help. Thirty minutes later Geffre a sixty year old experienced diver was at the scene. He ordered people to bring rocks into the water in order to mark where had been searched.

The following week saw Geffre make several attempts to find the ring and spend fourteen hours looking. Eventually his efforts paid off and he found the ring which was buried 3 inches into the sand and over twenty five feet away from where it was lost.

The relieved couple then decided to reward Geffre with a sum of $750 for his efforts.

"I have a lot of experience and a lot of patience. You just keep finding junk and junk, but if you stay long enough, the metal detector will pick it up," said Geffre of the situation.

The couple intend on getting married next July and are said to be understandably thrilled to be reunited with the ring. Stocco has stated that she has not taken it off since she was reunited with it.
